Minimal Makeup! Lara Stone strips off her string bikini for the annual Pirelli calendar 2012

Although she has been modelling worldwide since she was just 15, Lara Stone didn't become well known in the UK until she married funnyman David Walliams.
But the 28-year-old is clearly a success in her own right and it's easy to see why.
She is one of several models who posed naked for the annual 2012 Pirelli calendar, in the name of 'art'.

No inhibitions! Dutch model Lara Stone strips off her string bikini for the annual Pirelli calendar, which is distributed to VIP customers of the tyre manufacturer

The shoot took place over summer, but these behind the scenes pictures have just been released as the publication is distributed by the tyre manufacturer as a gift for royalty, celebrities and VIP customers.
Lara also posed for the calender in 2009 alongside Miranda Kerr and Daisy Lowe.
In these snaps, she is seen stripping off a beige string bikini on what looks like a balcony, overlooking a stunning Mediterranean hillside.

Heating up beach! The 28-year-old is seen posing for celebrity photographer Mario Sorrenti during the week-long assignment on the Mediterranean island of Corsica

She's got the look! Lara shows off her very toned stomach and derriere next to a hole in a rock

Celebrity photographer Mario Sorrenti snaps away from the front and her behind, catching frames of her toned derriere.
Later, she lies completely naked on a couch, which is covered in a red velvet blanket.
Of working with the Italian photographer, Mario said: 'I love Mario. He's so nice to work with. I'd like to do [Pirelli] every year, til I'm 75.'

Not shy! She fiddles with the back of her bikini top before pulling the straps down, as she prepares for the naked part of the shoot

Working in paradise! The gorgeous location had views of the Corsica hillsides

Lara and eleven other stunning women were flown to Murtoli on the island of Corsica, west of Italy, for the week-long assignment.
Locations used included abandoned old farmhouses as well as the blue seawater with backdrops of rocky outcrops - with security guards keeping onlookers at bay to stop sneaky pictures being taken.
Among the other beauties included are veteran model Kate Moss, Ukranian actress Milla Jovovich and Dutch model Saskia de Brauw.

And they're off! The model eventually shed her clothes and relaxes on a couch with a red velvet blanket draped over it

Made to be a model! Lara covers her modesty with her arm

Its 25-photospread includes 18 black-and-whites and seven coloured pictures.
An insider on the set said: 'It was a fantastic assignment with the emphasis really being placed on feminine beauty and the pictures are fabulous the girls look really, really sexy.'
Since it's inception in 1964, Pirelli has instructed leading photographers to capture the world's most beautiful women on film for the exclusive calendar solely as a gift for royalty, celebrities and VIP customers.
Prince Andrew is said to be a regular recipient.
Mario, who used to be a model before moving behind the camera, is known for his spreads of topless models in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
But he has insisted that, despite the nudity, the 2012 calendar is not sexy.

Don't fall asleep! Lara poses with her eyes closed, showing that she was wearing very minimal makeup

He told Women's Wear Daily: 'You know, originally I thought I was going to do very sexy pictures, and when we got there I realized that I didn't want the pictures to be sexy at all.'
'I meant that they're not 'obviously' sexy. I didn't want them to be posing and arching and like sticking their boobs in my face or anything like that.
'I thought that's what I wanted, that it would give the most immediate impact, but then I realized that wasn't important.... I was trying to just really focus on them and the environment and let that blossom together somehow.'

Trying a different angle! Mario moves back on the balcony to capture the model

According to reports the models and crew all stayed together in houses on Corsica, while Sorrenti spent 'the morning with one girl and the evening with another, and we'd all have dinner together'.
The theme, chosen by Sorenti was 'swoon', for which he explained: 'In "swoon", I put the bodies in direct contact with Nature, which harbours them as if they were its extension, in a set of images where rocks, land, tree trunks, sky and sea are all turned into a backdrop for the bodies.'
Last year's edition had a theme of Greek and Roman mythology.
